PPe30 - 81401683-A4
The PLUG-AND-PLAY E30 (PPe30) from Magswitch boasts a quick set-up process, high breakaway forces, and more mounting interfaces as part of the latest generation of Magswitch E-Tools.
These electrically actuated magnetic grippers are great for use in fixtures, in bin picking, and as end-of-arm tools. They are operated directly from a standard I/O block.
Custom pole shoe geometry is available upon request for the handling of non-flat or irregularly shaped surfaces.
With part-present sensing and a magnet that won’t let go if power is lost, the Magswitch PLUG-AND-PLAY electric line of automation tools changes the way things are done!

FAQs
Answers to common questions about Magswitch PPe30 and PPe50 magnetic tools.
What I/O blocks do the tools work with?
PPe30 and PPe50 are designed for standard 24 V DC industrial I/O and can be integrated with most robot and PLC I/O blocks that support discrete inputs and outputs.
They are intended to be plug-and-play with common cobots and automation controllers using standard industrial connectors.
How much can it hold and lift?
Rated holding forces are defined in the official PPe30 and PPe50 spec sheets. Customers should size using those values with appropriate safety factors.
- PPe50 Maximum Breakaway: 536.0 N (120.5 lbf / 54.6 kgf)
- PPe30 Maximum Breakaway: 117.6 N (26.4 lbf / 12 kgf)
What is the actuation speed?
PPe30
- Start-up time: 1 second
- Max actuation ON/OFF: 350 ms each
PPe50
- Start-up time: 1 second
- Actuate ON time: 700 ms on-target, 900 ms off-target
- Actuate OFF time: 375 ms
What happens when power is lost?
The magnet is stable in both the ON and OFF state. If the magnet is ON when power is lost, it will remain ON and not release a target.
Why are there three connectors?
Connectors A and C are required for operation.
Connector B is required for part-present sensing.
How does part-present sensing work?
- Connector B provides part-present status
- Output is High when a part is present and Low when no part is present
- The magnet must be actuated for part detection
- The tools detect part presence for targets 0.3 mm or thicker
Can I design my own pole shoes?
No. Magswitch offers many standard and custom design pole shoes. Our Applications team can help optimize the pole shoe design for your application - applications@magswitch.com.
Pole shoes are required for operation.
What cables can I use?
The tools interface via M12 A-coded connectors.
What are the mounting options?
Mounting options are listed below and can also be found in the specification sheet:
- Top: Ø6-M8-Ø6 NAAMS pattern (x2)
- Top: M8-Ø6-M8 pattern (x4)
- Side: Ø6-M8-Ø6 NAAMS pattern (x2)
Can I run the cables through the robot arm?
Cable dressing information is available through Magswitch Application Engineering. Please contact Magswitch with details about your specific application.
What feedback does it have?
The spec sheet provides detailed information on LED codes for operating states, calibration steps, and errors.
Different colors and flash patterns correspond to different tool states.
PNP or NPN?
Both the PPe30 and PPe50 are PNP or NPN compatible. Please check with Magswitch engineering regarding your specific application.
What do the LED colors mean?
Both spec sheets define LED meanings using Blue, Green, Red, and White, and include troubleshooting flash counts.
The LED codes identify operating states, calibration steps, and errors.
Is it UL listed?
No.
