Introducing the PPe30 and PPe50, Magswitch’s new magnetic automation innovation built for simplicity, reliability, and safety
Magswitch is bringing a new level of precision, simplicity, and performance to industrial automation with the launch of the Plug-and-Play E Series. Built for automation engineers, the PPe30 and PPe50 deliver electrically actuated switchable permanent magnet technology that connects directly to standard 24V I/O, eliminating pneumatic complexity and reducing setup time.
From robotic handling and de-stacking to fixturing and challenging part presentation, these tools are designed to advance what magnetic automation can do. Fail-safe magnetic holding, part present sensing, configurable mounting, and optional custom pole shoes make the PPe series a smarter, cleaner, and more capable solution for modern automation cells.
Compact Precision Magnetic Gripper
The PPe30 magnetic gripper is engineered for robotic automation applications that require precision handling of smaller ferrous components. Designed for direct 24V industrial I/O integration, it simplifies installation while removing the complexity of pneumatic magnetic systems.
- Ideal for brackets, nail plates, and smaller ferrous parts
- Compact footprint for robotic end-of-arm tooling and tight automation cells
- Direct 24V I/O control for fast industrial automation integration
- No pneumatics required, reducing maintenance and system complexity
- Optional custom pole shoes for precision contact on specialized part geometries
High-Performance Magnetic Gripper
The PPe50 magnetic gripper is built for industrial automation applications that demand greater holding capability, flexible integration, and reliable performance with larger ferrous workpieces. It delivers switchable permanent magnet performance without the need for compressed air.
- Higher force capability for larger parts, fixturing, and demanding automation tasks
- Supports robotic material handling, positioning, and ferrous part stabilization
- Pneumatic-free operation for a cleaner and more efficient system design
- Multiple mounting options for easier deployment across automation platforms
- Optional custom pole shoes for irregular surfaces and application-specific gripping
24V Industrial I/O Integration
The PPe Series connects directly to standard 24V DC industrial I/O blocks used in PLC and robotic control systems. This simplifies integration for automation engineers and eliminates the need for additional pneumatic valves or complex control hardware.
Pneumatic-Free Magnetic Actuation
Electrically actuated switchable permanent magnets remove the need for compressed air systems. By eliminating pneumatics, the PPe Series reduces system complexity, maintenance requirements, and installation costs in industrial automation environments.
Fail-Safe Magnetic Holding
Magswitch technology maintains magnetic grip even in the event of power loss. This fail-safe behavior helps support safer robotic material handling and provides additional reliability for automation systems handling ferrous components.
Custom Pole Shoes for Complex Parts
Optional pole shoes allow the magnetic contact surface to be customized for different geometries, enabling secure gripping of non-flat, irregular, or specialized ferrous components in robotic handling and fixturing applications.
Built for Real Automation Environments
Automation engineers need tools that integrate quickly, perform consistently, and simplify system design. The Plug-and-Play E Series removes the complexity of pneumatic magnetic systems and replaces it with direct electrical control.
Designed for robotic material handling and industrial automation, the PPe30 and PPe50 magnetic grippers deliver reliable performance for ferrous part handling, fixturing, and precision positioning applications.
By combining Magswitch switchable permanent magnet technology with direct 24V I/O integration, automation teams can deploy magnetic gripping solutions faster while reducing maintenance and system complexity.

FAQs
Answers to common questions about Magswitch PPe30 and PPe50 magnetic tools.
What I/O blocks do the tools work with?
PPe30 and PPe50 are designed for standard 24 V DC industrial I/O and can be integrated with most robot and PLC I/O blocks that support discrete inputs and outputs.
They are intended to be plug-and-play with common cobots and automation controllers using standard industrial connectors.
How much can it hold and lift?
Rated holding forces are defined in the official PPe30 and PPe50 spec sheets. Customers should size using those values with appropriate safety factors.
- PPe50 Maximum Breakaway: 536.0 N (120.5 lbf / 54.6 kgf)
- PPe30 Maximum Breakaway: 117.6 N (26.4 lbf / 12 kgf)
What is the actuation speed?
PPe30
- Start-up time: 1 second
- Max actuation ON/OFF: 350 ms each
PPe50
- Start-up time: 1 second
- Actuate ON time: 700 ms on-target, 900 ms off-target
- Actuate OFF time: 375 ms
What happens when power is lost?
The magnet is stable in both the ON and OFF state. If the magnet is ON when power is lost, it will remain ON and not release a target.
Why are there three connectors?
Connectors A and C are required for operation.
Connector B is required for part-present sensing.
How does part-present sensing work?
- Connector B provides part-present status
- Output is High when a part is present and Low when no part is present
- The magnet must be actuated for part detection
- The tools detect part presence for targets 0.3 mm or thicker
Can I design my own pole shoes?
No. Magswitch offers many standard and custom design pole shoes. Our Applications team can help optimize the pole shoe design for your application - applications@magswitch.com.
Pole shoes are required for operation.
What cables can I use?
The tools interface via M12 A-coded connectors.
What are the mounting options?
Mounting options are listed below and can also be found in the specification sheet:
- Top: Ø6-M8-Ø6 NAAMS pattern (x2)
- Top: M8-Ø6-M8 pattern (x4)
- Side: Ø6-M8-Ø6 NAAMS pattern (x2)
Can I run the cables through the robot arm?
Cable dressing information is available through Magswitch Application Engineering. Please contact Magswitch with details about your specific application.
What feedback does it have?
The spec sheet provides detailed information on LED codes for operating states, calibration steps, and errors.
Different colors and flash patterns correspond to different tool states.
PNP or NPN?
Both the PPe30 and PPe50 are PNP or NPN compatible. Please check with Magswitch engineering regarding your specific application.
What do the LED colors mean?
Both spec sheets define LED meanings using Blue, Green, Red, and White, and include troubleshooting flash counts.
The LED codes identify operating states, calibration steps, and errors.
Is it UL listed?
No.
