Magswitch Heads to Catskill Mountain Maker Camp 2026

Magswitch at Catskill Mountain Maker Camp 2026 featuring Robert Bliss’s Jig and Fixture Design for Woodworking demonstration.

Magswitch is heading to the Catskills for a weekend dedicated to creativity, craftsmanship, hands-on learning, and the people who love to make things.

Join us October 9–12, 2026, at Catskill Mountain Maker Camp at Blackthorne Resort in East Durham, New York. Maker Camp brings together woodworkers, metalworkers, artists, craftspeople, educators, DIYers, and makers of all skill levels to learn new techniques, share ideas, and—most importantly—make things.

This year, Magswitch will be part of the hands-on learning with a special woodworking demonstration led by Robert Bliss of Blissmade Furniture.

Magswitch Demo: Jig and Fixture Design for Woodworking

Jigs and fixtures are essential shop tools for improving accuracy, consistency and repeatability. A jig typically guides a tool or cutting operation—such as a dovetail jig or crosscut sled—while a fixture holds, positions or locates the workpiece. In practice, many woodworking setups perform a little of both.

During Jig and Fixture Design for Woodworking, Robert Bliss, woodworker and patternmaker at Blissmade Furniture, will explore the fundamentals of effective jig and fixture design and demonstrate practical ways to make woodworking operations more accurate, repeatable and efficient.

With more than a decade of experience in furniture manufacturing, Rob will bring real-world knowledge to the presentation while showing attendees ideas they can put to work in their own shops.

Putting Magswitch Tools to Work

Throughout the presentation, Rob will demonstrate how Magswitch magnetic woodworking tools can be incorporated into jigs and fixtures in creative and practical ways.

Attendees will see how switchable magnetic holding can help simplify positioning and workholding, make setups easier to adjust, and create new possibilities for versatile, shop-made jigs and fixtures.

Instead of relying solely on traditional clamping methods, Magswitch tools give woodworkers another way to approach workholding and jig design—turning magnetic holding on and off exactly when it's needed.

The goal of the session is simple: give woodworkers practical ideas and techniques they can take home and use to create smarter, more flexible setups for their own projects.

Come See Magswitch at Maker Camp

One of the things that makes Maker Camp special is its focus on learning from other makers. It's not just about seeing finished projects—it's about understanding how they're made, experimenting with new techniques, and discovering better ways to work.

That's what makes it a perfect environment for Magswitch.

Whether you're an experienced woodworker, a weekend DIYer, or simply looking for new ideas for your shop, stop by the Magswitch demonstration, meet Rob, and see firsthand how magnetic workholding can change the way you think about jigs and fixtures.
